Bad Color Choice...

What do you think about the green thick line over the HP logo? I honestly think that that does not blend withthat blue background...

I think this looks much better. Photoshopped:

But it's just what I think... I wouldn't personally have the navigation bar and header having the same color. Just doesn't look right... Just my thoughts.. .

What do you think?

BTW, that little black thing in the bottom right is my alerts for AIM, MSN, Google Talk, and so on... :)

Chris Pirillo in a Box! - Totally Redisigned - V2.0.00

Here's the latest version of Chris Pirillo in a Box!

Things are going really well - Vista's still the same!

Things are going really smoothly behind the computer of Taylor Jasko.

It's still the same ol' way with Windows Vista. It's still a resource hog. But hey, I really have to use it because of all my apps I have...

Right now, I've completed version 2.0.0 of Chris Pirillo in a Box!.

And the application is located here where all my other applications are:

http://tjasko.com/programs.aspx

Although my life is very hectic right now; it's all going great.

I've completed a simple thing that allows my PDA to set itself up when I flash it to a new ROM. That took a good four hours out of my day today. But, time saves time in this case. ;)

Life's just going really well.

I'm creating many videos on my YouTube account:
http://www.youtube.com/user/tjasko1

It's a way to share all the knowledge I know. :D

And, I'm getting way more emails that I did. Getting 150+ now... :P

There's some bugs I find with Vista 64-Bit, but mostly their just annoying bugs that really cause nothing. Although I really love the speed improvement!

Because I'm a screencaster; I need a lot of speed to render my videos. Now with Vista 64-Bit, it goes by much faster than 32-Bit.

Although it's still a resource hog. :D

Chris Pirillo in a Box!

Are you a fan of Chris Pirillo? If so, I have an application for you. If you never heard of him, he's basically a techy guy like myself, but he streams his life 24/7 on the World Wide Web. He can be found at live.pirillo.com!

But, since I wanted a way to watch, and chat with him with installing no third party applications (that's in my case). I just created my own application that does it.

Requirements:
.NET Framwork 3.5:

Flash Player for Internet Explorer (open URL in Internet Explorer!):

A 32-Bit OS. If you have no clue what this is, you probably use 32-Bit. :) There are errors in 64-Bit because Flash does not support 64-Bit... I'll open the program up to install on 64-Bit once Adobe releases a 64-Bit version that works. :D

Windows XP and Up. Does work on server additions too. This application does not work in WINE (Linux) because of the .NET Framework. :)

If any of you would like to help out on the project (code with me), you can email me, or send me a message via my contact us page on my website, http://tjasko.com . These applications are coded in Visual Basic, under Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. You're name will get in the application(s) if you help out improve and add new features to the program. :)

If anyone happens to get a error, please let me know. This application was fully tested, so there really shouldn't be any errors. ;)

You know your a true...

You know your a true graphic designer when you can easily whip something up like this (below) in Microsoft Paint in less than 10 minutes... It took me 6 minutes. Seriously. It doesn't look that good. But, you try to put cheap shadowing and curved lines like that in 10 minutes or less... :)

In a clam right now

Things are really hard for me right now. Already, I'm missing the software I was able to run easily in Windows. Now that I'm in Linux, I'm missing a lot of other Windows things (FYI, I don't miss the Experience Index!). For example, since I am a developer, I miss Visual Studio 2008 Pro... Because I used that software everyday. Now that I'm in Linux, I have to boot into XP (Virtual Machine) in order to use it. I really miss having Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, Audition, and Dreamweaver... Their just needed applications for me. And now, I really cannot run them at full speed.

It's not Windows I miss. It's the software I miss that runs on it. Linux is by far the best OS I've ever used when it comes down to drivers, support, and user ability. But, I'm thinking about switching back to Vista. Hey, I have to give it a chance sometimes. Linux would be my primary OS just as if my favorite applications would run on it. And besides, most of my favorite applications run on Mac OS X. Which if you have a skilled developer in both for Mac OS X, and GTK++ (Linux), you could easily port the application over... Or at least make it more compatible with WINE. I don't know any more. It's a necessity for me.

Because think about it. Vista is pretty slow compared to other OS's I've used (with some draw backs of course), Vista is a resource hog by far, way too many things run in the background, and it's not as configurable as Linux is. But, there are some advantages with it though.

It's just hard being a Linux fanatic and a Windows fanatic at the same time... They both have their strengths and weaknesses. You know, most of my software runs on Mac OS X. Just as if they weren't so expensive, I'd buy one.

It's like I'm forced to use Vista. My PC can barely run XP do to some driver problems (it works after 2+ hours working with it, but don't like that fact that updates will not be coming out for it anymore.) Cannot run Linux do to some software support. And cannot run Vista because of it's flaws and resource hogs... I'm stuck, no doubt about it.

How to Change your Desktop Wallpaper on Bootup - For Linux

Well I created this video to help several Linux users on how to use a python script file to allow their wallpaper to be changed on startup.

Some of you may want a simple application to change your wallpaper on boot up. Nothing with this, "changing wallpaper with 5 minute intervals", just something to change it only on bootup. This video is extremely friendly with users that are just getting started with Linux; but you'll learn some new things, and a great way to change your wallpaper.

Now that I'm in Linux....

Now that I'm in Linux now; I've realized somethings why it's so great!

Here are 10 reasons why I love Linux! Now, this may not be true to you, but it is to me! It's just the facts...

1) Open-Source (Community maintained) software. It's a great Operating System that gets it's updates all in one place. In the update manager. In Windows, you had to update most of your programs manually. In Linux, it is not the case. Because you download all your software from either 3 places. The Add/Remove program, the Synaptic Manager, or compiling from the source (either .DEB or a tar.gz file). Unlike Windows where you can only install a application with one thing, a executable. Depending if that's a MSI, a EXE, or even a script file (found in servers).

2) Compatibility. When I'm in Linux, it gives me the feeling of compatibility. That I know if there's a new driver, it'll install it. Since Linux is extremely internet dependent, my drivers showed up all in one place, the Hardware Drivers program under System. It's a great hardware manager that is way easier to use than Device Manager in Windows.

3) 64-bit compatibility. When I was in Vista with 64-bit, it was just trash! 64-bit with Vista just sucks! It's not any faster in my opinion; mostly for the fact that most software ran in 64 bit is 32 bit, making it the same speed at 32 bit. You cannot find much software that's 64 bit compatible. Including many games. And even sometimes, it locked up on me! Now that I'm in 64-bit Linux, it sure does take advantage of my 64-bit processor! Everything is fine, and it found (most of) the drivers. Except for my Wireless card. I had to manually install that with the MadWIFI package... Mostly for the fact that many people (Atheros) does not give us the source code to their drive. Making Wifi a little of a pain to install if you have a different card...

4) Speed. Linux IS faster than Windows. There is no doubt about it. You cannot argue with me. It takes up WAY less RAM than Windows Vista does, and while it can look 2x as good as Vista with Compiz installed. Although Firefox is still a memory hog in both Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux... :(

4) Open source software. I know this is for the second time. But, Linux is FREE! It will cost OEM manufacturers like Dell, HP, Lenovo, IBM, Compaq, and all the others less money to use!

5) Support. Since this is community maintained software, you basically get the best support out there. The world wide web. Because for most distributions of Linux, there is a forum (a community) to go along with it. This will allow users to post for their questions, and get fairly fast support! It's one of the best types of support out there.

6) Linux is EVERYWHERE. It's on most of the servers in the world, it's on the TV's in your house, maybe your digital watch (high tech), maybe your cell phone, or maybe even your (super) computer now (Linux is often found on many super computers). Although you cannot see it, you are with Linux all the time pretty much! There is something called the Unix Kernel, that basically runs Linux (and somewhat of Mac OS X, it's modified and called Darwin).

7) You can modify EVERY part of Linux. I'm not kidding. You could make Linux look exactly like Windows Vista if you wanted to. Granted it would take a lot of time, but it is possible. The reason why I am using Linux right now is because some software (not going to say what is) messed up my Networking (finding my server + Windows Shares) in Vista. And, I'm glad it did! Because, I would not be using Linux if that happened. Now if Microsoft was smart enough, they would allow a feature to reinstall the Networking part, and make that all defaults now. But no, their not going to do that.

8) Low resource. Since Linux uses barely any RAM, it's a lot faster, and with this you can use that extra memory to do emulation, and just allow you to open up more applications also.

9) Easy to use. It's very well put together, and it's a no brainier in order to find something in the settings. It's organized very well.

10) Manages Dual-Core processors way better than Windows. In Windows, it was basically your second processor is you, "back up", processor. Because I found that my seconds core was not used the much. But in Linux, it basically splits them up half and half. This allows your computer to use less power, makes you system run cooler, and just have a wonderful user experience. Linux is great for quad-core systems too! Because it actually takes advantage of all your cores!

Just some of my ideas upon Linux.

It was sure a.....Busy Day

WOW. It was sure a busy day today. I had to reinstall another OS, and set it all up. Was a pain to get Outlook into Linux though. Had to do some MBox conversion.. But, more updates to the blog, and the website (tjasko.com) will come soon!

Thanks!

Moved Over to Linux...again

Well, just recently I had to reinstall Windows Vista because I installed some software that messed up my networking side of Vista. I'm not going to say what it was, but I'm never going to use any of their software soon... Because of this, at one point I had two Windows Vista partitions on my hard drive. So what do I do, I do what most people would do. After I was done using that partition to restore my files onto the newer copy of Windows Vista, I used gParted to delete my useless Vista partition. When it was done, in about 40 minutes because it had to move the partition to the left (that takes time). And, it failed because the Windows file system was "unclean". So it trashed the bootloader. I had to manually repair it... Then when I did, every time I booted Vista up, it gave me, "Preparing your Desktop". Which is not supposed to happen. Then when that message went away, I got some errors. Ohh great Windows!

So for now on, I'm moving over to Linux. It's so much better than Windows! It just never crashes, it's easy to use in my case. It's just the best thing for me. I'm going to be installing XP in a virtual machine so I can still use some of my required tools. But, there's no way I'm going back to Vista. I'm making this switch permanent until Windows 7 comes out. I might use it, I might now. From what Windows have done to me, I'm probably not going to use it.

Just some of my thoughts. I'm in Linux now; much easier to set up than Windows too! Wow, I sure did miss it... Great OS, for sure. Microsoft should be more like Linux. Where when you can modify anything; so this means if anything messes up, you'll be able to fix it. Why I love Linux. You don't have to defrag Linuz either. EXT3 is much more cleaner of a file system than NTFS. It's a great world. So many things run on Linux; including things you wouldn't even expect. Your TV, your watch (if it's a high tech one), a cable box; so many things, or at least the Unix kernal. Linux is everywhere, but you cannot see it. Linux could be the future. Let's wait and see...

How to install Windows Vista with 256mb of RAM

Just as the title says.

Here's the links I used:

That's for the folks that don't have WinRar yet. It's free, don't worry

You can also use a program called vLite to trim down your Vista installation so that Vista will run faster and more resource friendly with 256mb of RAM.

Here's a link to vLite:

Hope this helps!
