In a clam right now

Things are really hard for me right now. Already, I'm missing the software I was able to run easily in Windows. Now that I'm in Linux, I'm missing a lot of other Windows things (FYI, I don't miss the Experience Index!). For example, since I am a developer, I miss Visual Studio 2008 Pro... Because I used that software everyday. Now that I'm in Linux, I have to boot into XP (Virtual Machine) in order to use it. I really miss having Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, Audition, and Dreamweaver... Their just needed applications for me. And now, I really cannot run them at full speed.

It's not Windows I miss. It's the software I miss that runs on it. Linux is by far the best OS I've ever used when it comes down to drivers, support, and user ability. But, I'm thinking about switching back to Vista. Hey, I have to give it a chance sometimes. Linux would be my primary OS just as if my favorite applications would run on it. And besides, most of my favorite applications run on Mac OS X. Which if you have a skilled developer in both for Mac OS X, and GTK++ (Linux), you could easily port the application over... Or at least make it more compatible with WINE. I don't know any more. It's a necessity for me.

Because think about it. Vista is pretty slow compared to other OS's I've used (with some draw backs of course), Vista is a resource hog by far, way too many things run in the background, and it's not as configurable as Linux is. But, there are some advantages with it though.

It's just hard being a Linux fanatic and a Windows fanatic at the same time... They both have their strengths and weaknesses. You know, most of my software runs on Mac OS X. Just as if they weren't so expensive, I'd buy one.

It's like I'm forced to use Vista. My PC can barely run XP do to some driver problems (it works after 2+ hours working with it, but don't like that fact that updates will not be coming out for it anymore.) Cannot run Linux do to some software support. And cannot run Vista because of it's flaws and resource hogs... I'm stuck, no doubt about it.
